My first step into Leisure was in 1994 when I became a part time Recreation Attendant at Leominster Leisure Centre. Alongside this I went to HCT to complete a HND Leisure Management Course.
Having completed the 2 year HND course I joined the 2nd year of the degree course, I found this too taxing on the brain and the lure of a full time Duty Manager position at Bridge Street Sports Centre in October 1997 made me put my pencils and notebook away.
I spent the next 18 months at Bridge Street Sports Centre before joining Bromyard Leisure Centre, as it was known then. A very smart move for somebody who could not drive at that point and lived in Leominster!
After eating "Jane's" Sunday dinners for 12 months it was time for pastures new and I joined the Duty Manager team at Ledbury Lesiure Centre when the Centre opened in February 2000.
When Bridge Street Sports Centre was transferred to the Herefordshire Council in October 2001 I got my first experience of running a Centre. With my "l" plates firmly in position I ventured into the un-known under the supervision of Mick Ligema. I have been a Centre Manager ever since and been part of Halo's "Southern Hemisphere" for the past 3 years.
